GreatCollections, the official auctioneer of the American Numismatic Association (ANA), will be showcasing America’s first Silver Dollar, which is officially the world’s second most valuable coin, at booth 201 as part of a $30 million display of trophy coins and banknotes.
Two years ago, the 1794 Dollar was acquired by GreatCollections for a record $12 million from Las Vegas collector Bruce Morelan. It made history as the first coin to exceed the $10 million mark when it was sold at a 2013 auction, and it is widely believed to be the very first Silver Dollar struck by the U.S. Mint.
Among the other rarities on display, visitors can expect to see the 1861 Gold Double Eagle with Paquet Reverse, valued at over $8.5 million and considered the finest of just two known examples. Additionally, a superb Proof 1869 Gold Double Eagle, the finest out of the dozen known, will also be showcased.
