The United States Mint is set to launch sales for the latest American Innovation $1 Coin honoring the state of Missouri on July 18 at noon EDT. This coin, featuring the innovation from Missouri, pays tribute to the pioneering efforts of George Washington Carver, an agricultural scientist and inventor known for his groundbreaking work with peanuts, sweet potatoes, and soybeans.

Coin Design and Specifications

The reverse design of the Missouri American Innovation $1 Coin depicts George Washington Carver examining his work in a laboratory surrounded by a peanut plant. The coin also includes inscriptions of “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “MISSOURI,” and “GEORGE WASHINGTON CARVER,” with the design crafted by Mint Artist Eric David Custer.

On the obverse, all coins in the program feature a profile of the Statue of Liberty with the inscriptions “IN GOD WE TRUST” and “$1,” along with a privy mark symbolizing industry and innovation. The edge of the coin includes “2024,” the mint mark (“P” or “D”), and “E PLURIBUS UNUM.”
